Landscape Studies Minor
for the Undergraduate Minor in Landscape Studies
Students who pursue a Minor in Landscape Studies develop a comprehensive understanding of landscape and landscape design that can enhance their major field of study.
Study of landscape is valuable in many related fields, such as architecture, art, engineering, geography, sustainability studies, and urban planning. Our Minor in Landscape Studies enables undergraduate students from disciplines across campus to gain knowledge of the ecological, historical, social, and cultural factors that have shaped contemporary understandings of landscape from local to global scales.
Admission to the minor
University of Illinois students with a minimum GPA of 2.0 and completion of the campus Composition I and Quantitative Reasoning I requirements are eligible for admission. Applicants from other institutions must have a minimum GPA of 2.5. Students must declare their intentions and be admitted to the program by the Academic Affairs Coordinator in the Department of Landscape Architecture (ladept@illinois.edu).
Prerequisites
Students must comply with any prerequisite requirements of courses to be taken under this program.
Advising
Advising of students in the minor will be conducted by the Academic Affairs Coordinator in the Department of Landscape Architecture.
Certification of Successful Completion
Completion of the Minor in Landscape Studies will be certified by the student's home college office.

for the Undergraduate Minor in Landscape Studies
This minor aims to provide students with a framework through which they can develop introductory knowledge and reasoning skills of the field of landscape architecture to guide activities taking into account natural resource constraints that impact land use.
