CGGE 200   Introduction to Global Gender Studies   credit: 3 Hours.

Introduces global gender issues through interdisciplinary, culturally situated, theoretically diverse, and policy-oriented perspectives. Students examine gender as a socio-political, religio-cultural, economic, and historical construct, and its intersections with other dimensions of identity. Through scholarly research and case studies, students analyze how gender inequalities are produced, experienced, negotiated, and challenged through systems of power and privilege and evaluate efforts to advance gender equity across global contexts.

CGGE 581   Gender Relations & International Development   credit: 4 Hours.

Interdisciplinary seminar examining theoretical and empirical research on gender and the transformation of social and economic structures. Students will develop a comparative perspective on issues of women and public policy by contrasting and comparing such policies in North and South America, Eastern and Western Europe, Asia, and Africa.
